The urban fabric of L’Aquila’s historic center, recently rebuilt or restored, is characterized by a series of historic buildings and narrow streets that wind up and down between houses. Aside from a few main streets, this labyrinth of alleys is best explored on foot. Within the historic center, there are about a dozen hotels and numerous B&Bs and guesthouses.
